The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) was founded in 1958 when the 33 original members came together to form a program for bowlers who wanted to go professional. They each donated $50 to make the association possible. The PBA is known as the major league bowling of the United States. It has more than 4,000 members worldwide representing 14 countries. The PBA oversees all the professional competitions via the following tours: PBA Tour, PBA50 Tour, PBA Regional Tour, PBA Women’s Series. The PBA Tour last the entirety of the year with specific events scheduled throughout the year.
Currently (January), a large televised competition is being held in Arlington, TX. The PBA Hall of Fame Classic hosts 70 professional bowlers as they bowl in attempts to win a grand prize of $25,000 to the first place winner and $2,000 to the 18th place winner. This competition lasts from January 2 – January 6. Tune in to find out the winner!
